DIY: Happy Birthday Bunting

Hearing a lot of birthdays recently so I’ve thought of sharing a DIY Happy Birthday Bunting. All you have to do is print, cut and display. Easiest way to spice your party.

Materials:

• Desktop Printer

• White cardstock or specialty paper

• Scissors

• Eyelet puncher and eyelets

• Yarn or twine

What to do:

{1} Simply save and print the patterned letters on a 11x13in white cardstock. You can download the letters here.

{2} Once you’re done with the printing, simply follow the shape of the letters for cutting.

{3} Punch a hole on the upper middle side of the letters and put an eyelet on it.

{4} Now line up the word “happy” then “birthday” and measure the yarn that fits all the word. I made the words one bunting each. Make sure to add extra yarn on both ends for tying. Then cut a yarn roughly around 2-inch per eyelet and tie each letter on the longer yarn.

You’re all set to hang them. I also made one for Yellow Hauz.

Maybe you’ll also find ideas from some of my DIY‘s. Enjoy your party.

Christmas made of paper

You’ll know it’s already christmas when you see decors all around you. Lights, trees, ornament balls, wreaths and all those that makes you feel like a child once again.

One thing I’m good at is using paper in all sorts. Last year, I tried making a paper christmas tree for Yellow Hauz and in the studio. Now I may have added few more in the family. I added more colors plus paper snowmen and snowflakes too.

Oh I’m feeling a lot more like christmas now. They may not be made of real pine tree nor with snow but these paper decors are still adorable as ever. I’ll be posting them on my shop if you want the actual one and on Etsy if you want the printed file.

Which one is your favorite? Seriously, if you ask me, I can’t decide. Next, I’ll show few decors I did for Yellow Hauz.

DIY: Round Garlands

Few weeks ago, my sister celebrated her birthday and I decorated Yellow Hauz with garlands. After the party, I’ve thought of recycling it in my studio and hanged it just above our perpetual calendar. This is how I did this simple DIY round garlands.

Materials you’ll need:

• Scrap or new cardstocks

• Glue stick

• Twine or Yarn

• Round cutter

• Round punches

• Scissors and Cutting mat

How to do it:

{1}  Place your round cutter in a cardstock. I’m using a japanese brand cutter where you can adjust it to different sizes. Try to cut on the edges first to save some space.

{2} I had some few errors, but you can still use the spaces with small circles.

{3} Always make sure to cut a pair of rounds, because you’ll be using them back to back. Also use round or scallop punches for variations.

{4} If you’re done cutting the circles, placed them on a twine. Try placing them evenly before gluing it together.

{5} Alternate the rounds and scallop shapes and from small to big ones.

Once used in a party, now its hanging pretty in my studio. Practical indeed! Don’t you just love simple DIY‘s? You can also use different shapes with it. The point is, just have fun!

DIY: Jewelry Organizer

Being an OC person I always have this thing about organizing my jewelries and accessories. They are so cluttered in one corner and sometimes I can’t forgot I have a perfect accessory for a certain outfit because I didn’t notice it. If you’ve seen my DIY‘s, they were mostly easy and very practical. That’s why you’ll surely enjoy this jewelry organizer for a weekend project.

Materials:

Old frame {big or small}

Corkboard

White spray paint

Glue gun and glue stick

Doily lace

Key hook

Fabric tape {optional}

Push pins

Twine

Scissors, Cutter and Cutting mat

How to do it:

{1}  Clean an old frame and spray paint the front. I used white for my frame. Make sure to let it dry for at least a day. Then get your corkboard and cutting supplies then measure it with same size of the frame. Use the backing of the frame to make it easier.

{2}  Once you got the right measurement, glue gun the back of the frame one side at a time  then attached the corkboard. After you’re done from one side, do it on the other side.

{3}  If you’re all set from attaching the corkboard, face the frame front and it’s time to embellish! I’m using a doily lace for the top and buttom part of the frame. Measure the width and glue gun it from the frame.

{4}  Try posistioning wooden hooks on the corkboard so you can see how you would want to arrange it. Once you’ve decided glue gun them on the corkboard. I’m doing mine on both sides, giving a space in the middle.

{5}  Measure the length of the frame using your twine. Add a little extra and cut 3 pieces of the same length. Tie the edge of the twine and start braiding. This will make it stronger.

{6}  Then tie the twine on the push pin and attached it on both edges of the frame.

{7}  It’s time to hang it up on the wall. You can still add more embellishments like fabric tapes or cut images and florals but I want to keep mine simple.

Now arrange your jewelries and accessories with push pins. I’m using my jewelry organizer for necklaces then will also make another one for bracelets and rings.

Don’t you love how you can see them all neatly and organized? And seriously, you can do this is less than an hour, just perfect for a boring weekend. If you feel inspired and still looking for another DIY organizer, you can check my board in pinterest.

DIY: iPhone Case with Washi Tape

I’ve been itching to buy a new iPhone case recently but being the “kuripot” and honestly no budget at all {there goes the truth! haha}, I DIY‘ed my own iphone case instead. I was wondering how to do it and a lot of ideas came into mind like decoupage and embellishments. But then I’m too lazy for those things since I know I’ll be spending more time with it. So the washi tapes came into rescue.

Washi tapes are one of the crafty people’s no.1 must have. It’s so versatile in so many ways. Though technically, they are just so cute that you just have to have one. For those whose wondering what you can do with it, then here’s a great and easy idea!

Materials you’ll need:

• Old iPhone case

• Washi tape {I used MT black and white stripes}

• Small scissors and cutter

How to do it:

{1}  Placed a strip of washi tape at the edge back of an old iPhone case. This will be your basis for alignment. Then cut it leaving a small extra strip. Washi tapes are removable so you can adjust it anytime.

{2}  Once your all done at the back side. Cut the extra edges of the washi tape.

{3}  Once you’ve clean up the back side, do the same thing on the side part of the iPhone case. Cut a small portion of the washi tape on the curve part so you can fold it neatly.

{4}  This part is optional. I can still see the print of the iPhone case so I doubled the washi tape. I just repeated step 2 and 3.

{5}  Now that your washi tape is all set, it’s time to open those holes for the buttons and camera. I used a pointed cutter {I totally forgot what this cutter is called} and trace the edges of the holes. Do it gently so you won’t scratch your case. And you’re done!

Feels like I have a new iPhone case now… clean, sleek and crafty, but the important thing, it didn’t cost me anything. It pays to be “kuripot” sometimes.

I opted for a simple design but washi tapes have a lot of beautiful designs so that’s up to you. Fabric tapes can also be an alternative, that’s another option you can use. Play with all the designs and mix and match them, let your creativity flow. Just limit it though as you may get overwhelmed. Happy crafty weekend dear friends!
