DIY: Mini Garland with Washi Tape and Bakers Twine

I’ve finally added in my shop the crafting kit I’ve been preparing for days now. And one of the things you can create with it is a DIY mini garland.

Materials you’ll need. {All in the crafting kit}:

• Baker’s Twine

• Washi Tape

• Non-stick scissors

How to do it:

{1}  Measure the length you’ll be needing with your baker’s twine. Then simply wrap around the washi tape on it.

{2}  Now that the washi tape is sticked together. Fold the edge in the middle and cut it to form a V shape.

{2}  Do the same thing until you’ll reach the other edge of the twine. I wanted to have various sizes and lengths so I made the others thicker and did the same procedure.

Now that I’m done, I can simply hang this on my wall, just like this…

If you’re planning a small party, you can actually use this garland to decorate your party. Or maybe just to make your room or office look creative and fun.

DIY: Another Shoebox Organizer

Recently, got a little carried away in decorating some shoe boxes and made them as my organizers. Seriously, I have few more, but I think this will do for now or else I might put another column for this one, lol.

Last time, I used doily lace tape as one of the materials. This one, still using doily but I used Martha Stewart puncher instead.

Here are the complete materials:

Shoe box covered in manila paper

• Patterened paper

• Sticker cut-outs for lettering

Doily Lace Martha Stewart Edger Punch

• Brown Ribbon/Lace

• Scissors and glue

How to do it:

{1}  Punch the patterned paper using the doily lace edge puncher. Since I used a 6×6 inch paper, I’ll be doing the same process twice just to cover up the box.

{2}  Measure the front cover part of the box and cut-off the paper based on the measurement. Again, I did this twice since my box is around 12-inch wide.

{3}  Glue and connect the two papers on the box. It’s up to you whether you would want to extend the paper on the side.

{4}  Add a ribbon or lace on the upper part of the box. This will also cover the edge of the paper. Make sure the ribbon you’ll use will match the patterns of the paper.

{5}  Embellishments time! I used die-cut stickers for my lettering and handmade paper for the butterfly on the side.

I’ve displayed them on my shelf and I think they’re looking pretty there. I have few more boxes to decorated and for some I used washi tapes instead. But for now, this will be my last DIY for shoe boxes, or who knows right, hihi…

DIY: Shoebox Organizer

It’s been awhile since I had my last DIY. And since I’ve done some organizing in my room, I’ve thought of sharing some DIY Shoebox Organizer I did for my rubber stamps. Yes, it seems that I have this thing with dressing up some boxes. But let’s face it, they can be very helpful as organizers.

Materials you’ll need:

• Shoe box

• Manila paper

• Glue gun and scissors

Doily Lace tape

• Wooden letters

• Flower embellishments

What to do:

{1}  Firstly, cover your shoe box with the craft paper just like I did here. Once you’re done, use a Doily Lace tape and stretch it from one corner to another on the cover of the box.

{2}  Add the wooden letters on the lower left side of the cover using the glue gun. If you don’t have wooden letters, cut-outs will also do. Spell out STAMPS, or RUBBER STAMPS so you would know what’s inside the box.

{3}  Simply add the flower embellishment on top of the wooden letters. This will give extra crafty look to your box.

And a simple and chic organizer for your stamps is ready to be displayed in your shelf. Tomorrow I’ll share another one I made for my cutters. Enjoy crafting!

Birthday Card Tutorial for Let’s Make Greeting Card

Fews months ago, I was thrilled to be part of the design team of Let’s Make Greeting Cards hosted by Rochelle. The design team will have to make a tutorial on how to make simple greeting cards.

As for my first theme, a Happy Birthday Card was assigned to me, and this was the design I made for the tutorial. Using most of the materials I got from LMGC freebie, I mixed and matched florals, buntings and other medium.

You can also check the other Birthday card ideas made by various designers. I also designed some of the birthday printables, so don’t missed to check that one too.

Next month, I will be sharing Thank You and Summer card tutorials. I can wait for you to see them.

DIY: How to Sharpen Scissors

I have one big fetish… and that is… TOOLS!!! Seriously, I just love buying them. Whether it’s for paper, crafts or even for house use like a set of screwdrivers, soldering iron, spray paint and even baking tools, I just love buying all the tools regardless I’ll use them or not.

Now, one tool that is very essential in my studio is the scissors. But then, despite how sturdy it is, it gets to a point that it needs some sharpening. And how I hate using the whetstone. It sounds eeekie, plus if you don’t know how to use it, it will make the edges of the scissors ugly. Gladly, I discovered over the internet another way of sharpening your scissors. It’s very practical and easy at the same time.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

• Scissors

• Old cylinder bottle

• Newspaper or Wax paper

The instructions:

{1}  Simply place the bottle in between your scissor blades. Then try cutting the bottle just like your cutting a paper. But don’t put too much pressure while cutting it. Repeat this constantly and closer to the handle until you think it can cut sharply already.

{2}  After your done with the bottle, run it though on a newspaper or wax paper to soften the blades.

And your scissors is good as new. All you have to do is keep a bottle with you and there’s no need to buy new scissors again, unless it’s broken of course, hehe.
