Company Branding: Invoice and Receipt

One thing if you’re a graphic designer… you’re aware with all the designs that surrounds your company {or maybe that’s just me, haha}. Anyway, our coffeeshop {Yellow Hauz} needs another set of Official Receipt and I’m here to revamp our old and not so well thought design receipt. I wasn’t a graphic designer back then so it didn’t matter much to me. But now I just can’t let our customers see an ugly receipt {no offense from the previous printing press, hehe}

This is what I came up with… I used our logo {coffee plant} as the background to give a pleasing look. Sorry never liked receipts, that’s why I have to make it attractive.

This was inspired from Nubby Twiglet invoice design. Just the right inspiration I’m looking for… I love how she made her invoice looked elegant and still says “we mean serious business”. She also stated the things you should include in your invoice, such a great timing!

Anyway here’s what I did with Artisan’s invoice and official receipt a year ago. I was still using the damask pattern to match my paper bag. But I’m thinking of changing it once it will run out.

If only all the receipts and invoices have lovely designs, I think they wouldn’t give me such headache, haha… I wonder how you did yours?

DIY: Business Cards and Leaflets

Normally, it would take me a lot of procrastinating to finally make a new design for my businesses. In this case, our yearly participation in a bridal fair, encourages me to create something different from our previous designs. Thus, includes my business cards and leaftlets.

The thing is… I don’t know if you also feel that it’s easier to design for someone else rather than for your own thing. Because, that’s really one dilema for me… But anyway, since I made more time with my crafting and inspired with doilies lately, I’ve decided to incorporate this with it… Let me share how I did my business cards and leaflets with my craft tools.

For the business card, you will need:

• 2×3-in. calling card design

• A4-size #250gsm coated paper or cardstock

• Printer

• your trustee scissors

How to:

• Simply print your design in a coated paper or cardstock. Make sure your design has a space at the bottom part, so as not to make the card too small than the usual.

• Since, I used a doily effect design, I just cut the curves at the bottom. I would have used another puncher but apparently, the paper was too thick, even for Martha Stewart’s tools. I wouldn’t want to use a thinner paper so I have no choice but to cut it manually.

Now for the leaflet, you’ll need:

• Leaflet design arranged to maximize your paper

• A4-size paper {preferably glossy}

• Printer

Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge punch

• Cutter or Scissors

How to:

• Print you leaflet design on A4 paper, then cut them separately. Same with the business card, make sure to leave a space at the bottom of the design so no details will be cut-out when you use the puncher.

• I used Martha Stewart Doily Lace edge punch for the bottom part.

It’s just simple right? A little tedious though because we have to produce a lot of this for the bridal fair… So go get your punchers or other craft tools and DIY your own promotional materials. Here’s another round-up from Eat Love and Style for more creative DIY calling cards.

Company Branding: Kitchen Crew and Kneads Home Spa

I had a privilege to design a logo for a friend, Ikei… and since this friend of mine is a business woman, I designed not only one but two logos for her. So my frustration for Illustration will be challenged again… but on the hand, these logos turned out to be one of my faves from my portfolio.

Let’s start with her catering business: Kitchen Crew. The great thing about this project was, Ikei let me decide what to do with her logo. So, I came up with a spoon and fork as her brand icon and a crooked circle that symbolized a plate. Then I just used the color palettes from her previous calling card design-apple green and shades of blue. Luckily, she loved the design as I did. It looked simple yet it implied fun and fresh.

We also printed her calling card, printed on #220gsm Matte paper. {Actual color varies from the photo}

And on to the next project. A home service spa: Kneads Home Spa. This on the other hand was not as easy as the first one. We had some few logo changes but eventually we came up with the right design.

This was my first draft… we used the same apple green color, to associate with the catering. Apparently, Ikei wanted something related with a spa, like flowers, leaves, etc. {Kindly clicked on the photo for a larger view}.

Then I tried this kind of design… using leaves to incorporate with a spa. But Ikei felt there’s still something missing…

So, we changed the colors this time, and also the brand icon. I made the leaves a little curvy. Darken the green color to teal. Then showed another option for the brand icon, a bamboo…

We were somehow close to the design with the bamboo icon, but the font needs some tweaking… and viola! We came up with the final logo and designs for her calling cards and flyers as well.
