Hello to a new planner

For more than 6 years now, I never stopped using a planner. I started from a giveaway from SunLife Insurance planner {it was a formal kind, but it was so helpful during my college days}, until I was able to afford Starbucks planner after college. Then came with my own handmade and designed planners last year.

I feel a little emotional about it, because I never would have thought I can make my own planner {all thanks to my ever trustee partner, Heintje for making it possible}. I never even imagined someone would be interested to buy my own design.

And so, somehow, I had a hard time parting with my old planner {the pink one}, because that’s my very first handmade design. I had written my never ending to-do lists and plans there, and I have always brought it with me. But then, change is good. Just like when I left my blogger, it was sad, but I am happy now with my new site. And I know same thing with my new vintage planner, new feel and new plans ahead.

If you were able to buy them, can you please, please send me photos of it, at designsofartisan@gmail.com? I would very much appreciate seeing someone is actually using it too. If you’re interested to buy, it’s only P380 with three designs.

Busy week

This week was so crazy… my week however started on a Thursday because of the long weekend. Although, technically, we’re supposed to be back by Tuesday, but one great thing in being your own boss, you can decide to extend your holidays without any discussions, haha.

I’m gonna share some moments from my iphone during my crazy week…

{1} My super untidy desk… reading, printing and designing at the same time. I call it mastering multi-tasking.

{2} Energy booster of course – Brownie ala Mode from Yellow Hauz {one of the perks in having your own coffeeshop, few steps away from desserts}.

{3} “In Rome” post-it I bought from National Bookstore, perfect for my reading materials.

{4} Printing and filing my Blogging Your Way reading materials. Sadly, class ends today, but still not yet done reading and finishing my assignments. Such a bad student, I know.

Another weekend that is about to end… seriously, where did the days go? Asking that more often won’t give me any answers right? haha.

DIY: Hanging Photos

Back then, I always wanted to have a store of my own so I can design window displays. I don’t know why, I just love looking at them, and somehow, it became one source of my inspiration.. So, since I had my dainty studio, I’ve been making an easy DIY window display. I thought I’d share this one with you. But first… please, please bare with my tiny hands and nails, hahaha. This is the first time I did a DIY with my actual hands on it, forced by my photographer of course, Heintje {hahaha… thanks for helping me with this one ahia}.

Anyhoo, I thought I’ll make something useful from my remaining 2011 calendar that hasn’t been sold since I can’t sell them anymore for next year.

Here are the materials you’ll need:

• Recycled Photos (4x6in. or if you have old calendars better}. You’ll be needing at least 36 photos, depends on your window length. I used 6-7 photos per set.

• Cutting mat

• Scissors

• Cutter

• Bus ticket puncher {I bought mine in our local bookstore - National Bookstore}

• Ruler

• Ribbon or Crochet yarn

Instructions:

1. Cut the photo from the calendar. Make sure to use cutting mat, so no table will be damaged after, and a sharp cutter blade, for better cutting.

2. Use a bus ticket puncher or the smallest round puncher. I suggest a small puncher so the holes won’t be visible from afar.

3. Insert the yarn starting from the back of the photo and roll it twice.

4. Then pull the yarn from the back and insert it at the bottom hole this time. Don’t twine the yarn from the top, it should be lose and can be pulled easily.

5. Do the same thing on the next photos. I used 6 photos per line. You can vary the height of the photos too.

6. On your last photo, tie a knot at the bottom, to lock the yarn. Then same procedure on the next set.

7. Once you’ve completed all your set, tie them each on a ribbon. The ribbon will be based on your window width. Hang both ends of the ribbon on the top of your window and align your photos accordingly…

And viola! A simple DIY hanging photos for your window display. I did a different style last year, instead of photos, I used circles. We had a printable Summer flowers too, in case you might wanna check them out.

Overload with uber cuteness!

You’ve seen where we’ve been to in Taiwan… now I’d like to share what I bought.

First stop… as I mentioned before, I cannot fully described how I felt and looked when I saw Eslite Bookstore with one-floor full of craft tools. As much as I wanted to buy them all, I must always remind myself to control from getting overwhelmed and must only buy the necessary tools. Back to basics, I got some brayer and heat gun. But I really can’t resist buying some punchers too.

But when I saw Martha Stewart’s craft tools… OMG! I seriously want to get them all. Even though, I know I wouldn’t have the time to use them. But I just had to own a Martha craft tools, so I had to think of the basic necessity. A circle cutter and one doily puncher would be enough.

Second stop… Stamps! Stamps! Stamps! All from Micia. I love using them.

Last but definitely not the least… the nonessential things but I just have to buy them… hihi…

This is the first time I saw an actual MT deco and I truly fell in love with it. I’ve been seeing these lovely masking tapes from my fave blogs but I never actually saw an actual one ’til then. There are so many beautiful designs, but then again, I can’t afford to buy them all, so end up just buying 1-pair.

Being a vintage enthusiast, can you imagine how I looked when I saw these uber adorable charms of Vespa, Van and a Camera? And those cute bookmarks! You would surely want to read if you have those to clip on to your books, right?

Now, every places I go, I make sure I buy some postcards. And Taiwan just has a vast styles when it comes to that. Their postcards are not just the usual plain cards, but instead, you can make a craft out of it, just like the elephant and the 2-vintage looking designs, where you can cut and assemble them. And the wooden carved postcard was just amazingly perfect for travelers.

And of course I wouldn’t leave Taiwan without buying any paper goods, my friend. I would really cry hard if I didn’t buy even at least one stationery from there. But I didn’t buy only one, but more, hahaha.

I know most of those stuffs are seriously nonsense, they will just end up in my drawers actually. But who could resist buying those? I know I can’t… lol!
