Lovely Package Exchange 2012

Another time of the year where Oh Hello Friend conducted Lovely Package Exchange. I always enjoy her package exchange not only because of getting nicely wrap gifts and goodies but the swap partners are from your same country so you get to meet crafter friends in your . Like last year, my partner was Patchi and she’s from Manila. And we exchanged emails after that.

This time, my swap partner is from Davao. Oh what a coincidence, and I was so happy! At least this time, I can actually meet my partner. But just as I read my her name, I was surprise as I remember her name… Ruby Thursday. First, her name was so unique to me, or maybe since my name was based on a month and hers was based on a week, then that probably made the recall, haha. Secondly, I knew her name really sounds familiar. And that’s because I designed a business card for her.

Seriously, our paths were truly meant to cross again because last time, I wasn’t able to meet her personally. And who would have thought we would be swap partners for Lovely Package Exchange. So last two weeks ago, we scheduled our first meeting.

So I packed all my goodies in an old shoe box covered in kraft paper then wrapped it with flower lace border and doily lace.

Here’s what’s inside the package. Some postcards, notecards, polaroid photos, stationery and notebook, washi tapes and bracelet and lipgloss.

In return, Ruby gave me these super wonderful goodies… all inside a bayong bag. I got a kawaii notebook, post-its, stickers, pencils, necklaces and native craft supplies.

Apparently, we forgot to take photos of us together…  We were chatting all the time about our work, how we wanted to have crafter friends, etc, hahaha.  Seriously, I love what you gave me Ruby… super duper thank you… I really hope we can get to chat again or do some crafting maybe, hihi… and by that time we should really take our photo, haha.

Instagram Sunday

My oh my… how time flies so fast! As far as I remember, I just wrote the first Instagram Sunday, and now it’s the 2nd one already? Whew!

{1}  Started week with a Toasted Mallows Latte at Yellow Hauz, which was my office the whole week.

{2}  Kay of Bits to Pieces helped me with my clay pendants and we stayed upto 4am in her office. Then I saw her garden fairies collection. Excited for her to finish all of them.

{3}  Got OC so I decorated shoeboxes and stored my stamps and cutters in it.

{4}  Heintje knows how I love tools and looked what he got me? A heavy duty craft tool.

You can find me on instagram @iam_artisan. ‘Til our next Instagram Sunday.

Birthday Card Tutorial for Let’s Make Greeting Card

Fews months ago, I was thrilled to be part of the design team of Let’s Make Greeting Cards hosted by Rochelle. The design team will have to make a tutorial on how to make simple greeting cards.

As for my first theme, a Happy Birthday Card was assigned to me, and this was the design I made for the tutorial. Using most of the materials I got from LMGC freebie, I mixed and matched florals, buntings and other medium.

You can also check the other Birthday card ideas made by various designers. I also designed some of the birthday printables, so don’t missed to check that one too.

Next month, I will be sharing Thank You and Summer card tutorials. I can wait for you to see them.

Wednesday Book Club: Blogging for Bliss

Most of my money is spent in either craft supplies or/and books {yup! or/and because either I have one or all of them}. I’m not sure if it has something to do with my childhood, because where we were still kids, my papa required us to read 1 chapter of a book everyday. I used to complain all time and never understood why we had to do it. Then as I grew older, I realized the benefit of reading and learned to love it. And I will always be grateful to my papa for that certain routine he implied on us.

And the obsession with books began but I couldn’t afford them. So when I started earning my own money, books had been a big part of my expense or rather an investment. I even thought of my future home library rather than my bedroom or kitchen {yes! I’m that obsessed!}

That’s why, I decided to make a Wednesday Book Club column so I can share the books I find very interesting and helpful. Of course, mostly related to crafts, design and art but I’ll also include those may not be inclined to my blog but I just have to share.

I’ll be sharing the Blogging for Bliss {Crafting Your Own Online Journal} by Tara Frey for our first Wednesday Book Club. I bought this a long time ago but my blog had already started back then. How I wish I knew about this before because it’s not only full of inspirations from bloggers but it can also help you with introduction to technical matters.

What I like about this book is… it’s a combination of guiding you to the blogging world plus hearing real bloggers’ stories. You’ll know how and why they started, where they get their inspirations, and more. Some of the featured bloggers’ were already familiar and it’s nice to read about their humble beginnings. Makes you feel that their real people.

Apart from the inspirations you’ll get, Tara Frey will also help you from building your blog name to taking great photos and beautify the design of your blog in a very simple way. No fancy talks nor complicated codes. So if you’re not familiar with this, then this book can simply sum it all for you.

Once you’ve finally set your blog, making it profitable is your next step which Tina Frey will also help you with.

The book is in paperback with colored pages, a lot of photos were included, so if you’re like me who’s visual then you won’t get tired of reading those texts because you’ll also see various blog banners and some of their works. That’s why I definitely enjoyed this book and for sure you’ll be be inspired to re-do yours.

On the downside however, this was published in 2009 so it’s already a bit out-dated. If you’re an expert in blogging and photography, this will serves as your refreshers course, not an advance learning for you.

In general, Blogging for Bliss will surely fuel you up in making your own blog or if you have one already, it will boost up your creativity and you’ll be motivated to blog some more. Ideas will overflow from various crafters and designers. It tackles everything you need to know about blogging.
